Summer Explorations/Extended School Year (ESY) 2024
Social Worker
The Sunnyvale School District is accepting Social Worker applications for the Sunnyvale School District summer program for elementary and middle school students. This is an outstanding opportunity for Social Workers willing to develop their own professional practice and give back to the profession. Staff will provide student and family support and collaborate with staff in order to facilitate an effective learning environment.
Social Worker will:
- assess, counsel, and offer support to students
- coordinate access to appropriate care, resources or benefits for families as needed
- liaise with relatives, colleagues and other professionals
- write reports
Work Days: Students will attend school 19 days: June 27 - July 25. Social workers will have planning meetings prior to the close of the 23-24 school year, and 2 days to set up classrooms (6/25, 6/26). Any (non-medical) planned absences must be approved by the district before accepting a summer contract. No work/school on 7/4 or 7/5.

Hours:
Student hours:
- Preschool: AM session: 8:00-10:00; PM session: 10:30-12:30
- TK-5: Monday-Friday 8:30-12:30
- 6-8: Monday-Friday: 8:45-12:45
Social worker hours:
- TK-5: Monday-Friday 8:00-1:00*
- 6-8: Monday-Friday 8:15-1:15*
*Extended hours two days a week to include collaborative planning and staffing.
Process for Application:
- Express interest through Talent Ed by 4:00 p.m. on Jan 26, 2024.
- Meet with Sunnyvale program administrators for interview
Salary: $6,000 for:
- 19 teaching days
- Planning meetings before the 23-24 school year lets out (TBD)
- 2 days to prepare right before students start (6/25, 6/26)
- 1 or 2 extended days a week for staff meetings
