TITLE: On Call School Psychologist - Retired Sunnyvale School District Employees Only
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid California Credential to serve as a School Psychologist.
- Master’s Degree is desirable.
- Classroom teaching experience is desirable.
- Other direct experience with children is desirable.
- Bilingual ability is desirable.
- Previous experience as a School Psychologist is desirable.
- Experience with community agencies dealing with children and adolescents.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel
JOB GOAL: The principle function of the position is to provide Psychological services for several schools in the district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops a diagnostic psychological study of an individual child through psychological testing.
- Prepares written reports of psychological findings in a timely manner.
- Interprets findings of individual psychological studies to school staff, parents, and other personnel involved with the child.
- Participates in the development of the Individualize Education Program (IEP) for children placed in special programs.
- Acts as liaison between schools and other community agencies dealing with children and makes referrals when appropriate.
- Identifies children for special education programs as a member of a team which then places children when appropriate.
- Counsels with children and parents dealing with learning, behavioral and social emotional needs.
- Supports the process of student study team at each site, as assigned.
- Provides staff development to certificated staff as appropriate.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
